Chances are, you’ve attended a wedding before. Either as a guest, perhaps a best man, flower girl. Whatever your reason, you can remember that moment when the bride is announced. Each person stands, the music strikes, and the bride in all her beauty and grace appears in the doorway and begins to walk down the aisle.
Do you remember that feeling you get when the bride enters? “Wow” hardly covers it. Majestic. I always love to watch the groom when the bride enters. I’ve experienced that same overwhelming sense of “Man, I can’t believe she is mine!”
It might surprise you to know that Jesus feels that way about us. In a much more infinite and eternal sense, He “rejoices over” us! Reading Ephesians 2 this morning, I was reminded of just how much He prizes us. Isaiah 61:10 gives that picture for us.
I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
We are beautiful to Him! Because He freed us while we were slaves to sin, He values us more than any creature He has made. We are lovely. We are His bride.
How much is this the opposite of hate! Nothing can change how He feels towards us. Keep that in your soul today and do not let the world change your view of yourself.
I’ll leave you with Hillsong’s, “Who You Say I Am.”
